Not another Mother’s Day article. Yeah, we know you know that Mother’s Day is this weekend, obvi - we already put out an article about 8 Dishes Worth Getting Pregnant For This Mother’s Day. As we said in that article, be better - taking mom to brunch and sending her flowers is the most basic Karen celebration a child can do for mom. Moms are special, so do something special for/with her. We’ve curated a list of some limited edition edible experiences, from 3 star Michelin croissants to a Hong Kong diner brunch that will shock your mom, because you finally didn’t mail it in again this year. It will also show her that you do understand and appreciate all the B.S. you put her through as a kid. Step up to the plate (pun intended) and hook mom up with some fire ass food this weekend. And let’s go Knicks BING BONG!

Cha Cha Tang
Hancock St // 257 6th Ave, Manhattan // Every MON & SUN

Cha Cha Tang is putting up a playful rendition of a classic Hong Kong diner every Sunday and Monday at Hancock St in the West Village. The menu features Hong Kong French Toast, a Cantonese Roast Duck Sandwich, plenty of Dim Sum like Scallion Pancakes and Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, plus General Tso’s Chicken and plenty noodle and rice dishes. Mother’s Day brunch never sounded so good, and since it’s managed to fly under the radar, your very special mother will be able to enjoy her food in peace, and not have her meal interrupted by Basics demanding more mimosas.

The Mud Club
22 Orchard St, Manhattan // FRI-SUN

After more than three months of bringing Montreal-style bagels to NYC, The Mud Club’s run at Orchard Street will unfortunately come to an end this week. In typical Montreal style, these lumberjacks boil their bagels before wood-firing them with wood sourced from their farm in Chatham, New York. Plus, they make pastries the size of a newborn, which will remind your mom of when you were younger and actually kinda cute.

An Xoi
Land to Sea // 402 Graham Ave, Brooklyn // 5.11 12-3PM

Give your mom a taste of something she’s never experienced before and insert yourself as the golden child. Vietnamese pop-up An Xoi will be at Land to Sea with just the stuff on Saturday, savory sticky rice with pork meatballs in tomato sauce, chicken liver pâté, fried quail eggs and a purple sticky rice ball with salted egg yolk. No matter how much better prepared your siblings are for Mother’s Day, they won’t match you with this one.

Bake It Nice
Eleven Madison Park // 11 Madison Ave, Manhattan // 5.11 11AM TIL SELL OUT

The Eleven Madison Park pastry team is taking molecular gastronomy back to the streets with their bakery pop-up Bake It Nice. It inevitably produces a line that extends into Madison Square Park but your mom’s confectionary-induced joy is worth that wait. Just think of how long she waited for you! Let a pastry chef with a toque that would brush your apartment’s ceilings make your mom a croissant this Saturday and show her how sophisticated your taste has gotten.

Cocoboys @ Hester Street Fair
Pier 17 // 89 South St, Manhattan // 5.11 & 5.12 11AM-6PM

You want to give your mom something sweet but you also want to show her care about her wellbeing. So a pint of Ben & Jerry’s probably isn’t the move, but a few scoops of coconut ice cream? That’s a win for you and your mom. Flavors like coconut, Thai iced tea, banana and cinnamon-date-pistachio will transport you and your mom from South Street Seaport to a true paradise under the convincing silhouettes of pirate ships.
