5 Spooky Food Pop-Ups & Drops This Week in NYC 👻

As a kid, halloween meant being your character of choice for a night and surging down the street filling up giant sacks of candy. And while you’re still dressing up each year, running out of costume ideas faster than Forsyth Fire Escape runs out of scallion pancake burritos, you probably miss the memories of eating half your bodyweight in processed caramel through a slit in your mask. Luckily, New York City chefs took notice and prepped some spooky halloween dish drops plus a few pop-ups to fill that void and terrify your dietician. Embrace that inner child with a haunted brownie, a bleeding doughnut, and the corpse of a whole hog this halloweekend. The 8it Drop Digest is just a small taste of what you can discover in the 🧨 Pop-Ups & Drops category on the 8it app. Hit the green button below each dish to access 8it and get all the deets. Ha’s Dac Biet

The Ha’s Đặc Biệt pop-up has been on our radar for a long time and we finally got to catch them this week before they take off to Paris FOR 6 MONTHS 💔

The best bite of the night was from their Vietnamese-style Rotisserie Chicken. Once we peeled back the quartered parts of the chicken, we discovered a beautiful piece of baguette that acted as a delicate sponge soaking in all the flavors from the chicken jus, caramelized fish sauce, lime leaf and se the butter. This legendary bite was no trick, all treat. Other hits from our order included Ha’s twist on oysters, a juicy wild gulf shrimp cocktail with green chili nuoc mam, curry potatoes, and “fried little fish” (beer battered anchovies with a sweet-chili sauce that we wanted to bottle up and take home).

After that meal, a trip to Paris is 100% in the books so we can experience that again. Stay tuned on the 8it Instagram for updates on what sneaky stuff the team at Ha’s Đặc Biệt will up to in Paris for the next 6 months.
